Screenwriter
"Happy Together" CBS Studios

Happy Together was a sitcom on CBS that ran for 13 episodes. I was a member of the writing staff and wrote episode 11 of the series. Working at the CBS Studios in Los Angeles, I was involved in the TV writers' room of 17 writers. We worked together to develop the series and episodes, breaking them down structurally, and pitching jokes for the episodes.

After my episode was developed by the writers' room, I took the outline and scripted the episode. The episode was then reviewed by the showrunners and the network and I wrote several more drafts to accommodate their notes.

This is typical of the TV writing process, and it enabled me to flex several skills that were mandatory in the TV writing space. First and foremost, it's a collaborative environment. Though one person scripts the episode, it's developed through the work of the entire writers' room.

Each script is also ever-changing. Once the network executives read it, they always have small changes they like to make, and once we rehearse the episode with the actors, more changes are needed. Not only does this require improvisational and creative efforts, but a multi-departmental coordination to get the script ready for show night.
